Ellacor vs. RF Microneedling: Which Treatment Best Suits Your Needs?

At Shea Aesthetic Clinic, our experts want to help you age with confidence and grace. We offer patients a wide variety of treatments that are designed to smooth facial wrinkles and create a tighter complexion—all without the need for invasive cosmetic surgeries.

If you’ve ever looked in the mirror, pulled up and back on your cheeks, and thought, “If I could just look a little more like this…” a skin-tightening procedure is what you need. Treatments like RF microneedling and Ellacor in Oak Ridge are great for total skin rejuvenation, and can be customized to meet your aesthetic goals.

RF Microneedling

Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling, like many other aesthetic treatments, creates mild and controlled skin injuries. By pairing the heat from RF energy with tiny microneedles, RF microneedling boosts collagen production and tightens skin, creating an overall more youthful-looking complexion.

During each RF microneedling treatment, the microinjuries—from both the needles and the thermal energy—trigger the body’s natural healing system to start repairing the skin. The skin heals itself by producing new collagen and elastin, which are proteins that thicken the skin and decrease laxity.

RF microneedling is an excellent treatment for patients of all ages. The collagen boost it provides can tighten skin, smooth out wrinkles, reduce jowls and neck fat, dramatically improve active acne, and smooth out texture irregularities from acne scars.

This treatment is also excellent for those with wrinkled, sagging, or puffy skin in the undereye area. RF microneedling can be performed on patients in their teens (for acne and acne scars), all the way up to patients in the 80 or 90s.

Ellacor

Ellacor is a nonsurgical facelift alternative that tightens the skin by physically removing columns, or micro-cores, of skin. This gives the skin a firmer appearance without leaving scars behind.

Like RF microneedling, Ellacor also penetrates the deeper layers of skin to increase collagen production. While both RF microneedling and Ellacor tighten skin by stimulating collagen and elastin production, Ellacor tightens skin even further by physically removing excess skin.

Ellacor is best for patients who want to target wrinkled, loose skin. We can use Ellacor to treat the following areas:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Arms
  • Abdomen
  • Thighs
  • Above the knees

Combining Treatments

Our experts recommend either RF microneedling or Ellacor in Oak Ridge depending on your desired rejuvenation results.

We often perform radiofrequency microneedling around the eyes for those with saggy, wrinkled skin in the undereye area at the same time that we perform Ellacor on the face and neck. The RF microneedling device can be used on the delicate tissues around the eyes and can significantly tighten skin in this area where Ellacor cannot be used.

Combining these treatments makes for an all-encompassing skin-tightening experience, especially because you are already numbed and prepared for each procedure.
