We custom-tailor each patient’s care plan to meet their unique needs, anatomy, and lifestyle.
The Cause of Hair Loss
Understanding the underlying causes of hair loss and thinning is essential for finding the proper treatment solutions. These conditions can be distressing, but by identifying the root causes, we can implement effective strategies to combat them.
Factors contributing to hair loss and thinning include:
- Genetics, which lead to pattern baldness due to hormonal sensitivities causing follicle shrinkage
- Hormonal imbalances, affecting hair during changes like menopause or with birth control use
- Nutritional deficiencies, where lack of vitamins and minerals weakens hair
- Stress and medical conditions like thyroid disorders can lead to hair shedding
- Medical treatments, like chemotherapy, directly cause hair loss
We recognize the importance of a personalized approach to treatment, considering each individual’s unique circumstances and causes of hair loss. By focusing on our patient’s specific needs and health, we aim to provide effective and compassionate solutions for those seeking to improve their hair’s health and appearance.
PRP Hair Restoration
We can stimulate hair growth using platelet-rich plasma (PRP) derived from your own blood.
PRP is rich in growth factors that encourage healthier, fuller hair growth. While platelets do not directly create new hair follicles, the growth factors in PRP revitalize dormant or weakened follicles to promote new hair growth.
Each appointment begins with a small blood draw, followed by isolating the PRP using a centrifuge. Then we carefully inject the PRP into areas of the scalp where hair is lost or thinning.
This non-surgical technique requires time and consistency, typically involving multiple sessions for optimal results. However, it can yield natural, noticeable improvements as your hair follicles become stronger and more productive!
PRP hair restoration is most effective for those who have thinning hair; it helps stimulate mostly active hair follicles that are simply struggling to produce hair.
Low-Level Laser Light Therapy
Low-level laser light therapy (LLLT) is a safe, non-invasive, effective treatment for hair restoration, particularly for patients with androgenetic alopecia who may not fully respond to other treatments.
The FDA cleared low-level laser light therapy in 2007 to stimulate hair growth in men and women with androgenetic alopecia.
It uses red or near-infrared light to stimulate cellular activity in the scalp. Its specific wavelengths penetrate the scalp and are absorbed by cells in the hair follicle. This promotes tissue repair, regeneration, and revitalization of hair follicles.
Essentially, many believe LLLT extends the growth phase of the hair cycle (the “anagen” phase), and reduces the time hair follicles spend in rest (the “telogen” phase) to encourage natural hair regrowth. In addition, LLLT increases blood flow and nutrient delivery to hair follicles to improve their overall health!
Studies suggest low-level laser light therapy can be as effective as topical minoxidil for some patients, and may offer enhanced results when combined with other techniques.
LLLT is most effective for individuals in the early to moderate stages of hair thinning, making it a great option for maintaining and improving hair density!
At-Home Light Therapy
At Shea Aesthetic Clinic, we typically recommend 1 of 2 options for at-home light therapy: Keralase Cap & Theradome.
Keralase Cap
Designed to complement in-office KeraLase MD treatments, this cap uses LLLT to stimulate hair follicles, enhance scalp health, and activate growth factors applied during in-office procedures.
Lightweight and easy to use, it ensures patients can continue their hair restoration journey at home with convenience and effectiveness.
Theradome
FDA-cleared for hair loss, the Theradome helmet delivers clinically proven red light therapy directly to the scalp.
By increasing blood flow and cellular activity in hair follicles, it promotes thicker, healthier hair. Ideal for patients with androgenetic alopecia or thinning hair, it offers a noninvasive, painless way to support long-term hair restoration.
Both devices are safe, noninvasive, and easy to incorporate into your routine, empowering you to take an active role in achieving fuller hair.
KeraLase MD
KeraLase MD is an innovative, comfortable, multi-phase hair restoration treatment designed to enhance scalp health and promote natural hair growth.
During your hair restoration treatment using KeraLase MD at Shea Aesthetic Clinic, we first begin with a mild laser treatment. Often, we call upon the gentle, but effective, Lutronic LaseMD Ultra device. This process creates microchannels in the scalp.
Then, we apply KeraFactor to the area and massage it into the scalp. Because of the microchannels created by LaseMD, the active ingredients in KeraFactor are able to more effectively permeate the skin.
To complete the treatment, we place a low-level laser light cap on your head. This light energy both enhances KeraFactor’s ingredients and stimulates cellular regeneration within the hair follicles.
All together, these combined modalities work in tandem to regenerate hair and restore your look.
Over time, you can begin to see new hair growth that fills in thinning areas and restores your confidence.
KeraFactor
KeraFactor Peptide Complex (KFp™) contains five bio-identical growth factors and two skin proteins that are essential for scalp and hair health.
It’s a hair growth serum we use to produce thicker, longer healthy-looking hair, and is often a key component of many of our patients’ hair restoration program.
KeraFactor contains bioengineered growth factors and proteins that:
- Stimulate weak or resting hair follicles
- Reduce inflammation
- Improves scalp circulation
- Counteract the effects of androgenic hormones
This product is color-safe for men and women of all hair types.
Votesse Nutraceuticals
Votesse Nutraceuticals offer a dual-approach to hair restoration: topical formulas and oral supplements.
This component of our hair restoration in Oak Ridge means we can support your hair growth from the inside out, even between office visits!
Topical Formulas
Votesse’s topical treatments deliver powerful ingredients to the scalp (such as peptides and growth factors) that target hair follicles to encourage healthier, thicker hair growth.
These formulas help create an optimal scalp environment for hair restoration while reducing inflammation and addressing common barriers to hair health.
Oral Supplements
Votesse’s dietary supplements are packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that nourish hair follicles from within!
Key ingredients like Cynatine HNS, Ashwagandha Root Extract, Saw Palmetto Berry, Polypodium Leucotomos, and other scientifically backed nutrients work to strengthen hair, reduce shedding, and combat the effects of hormonal imbalances that contribute to hair thinning.
Together, Votesse’s topical and oral products create a synergistic system that supports stronger, healthier, and more vibrant hair.
Topical Minoxidil
Topical minoxidil is a proven and highly effective treatment for hair restoration, helping both men and women combat thinning hair and regain fuller, healthier locks.
When applied directly to the scalp, minoxidil works by boosting blood flow to your hair follicles, delivering the essential nutrients and oxygen needed to revitalize them. This improved circulation can extend the growth phase of your hair, allowing follicles to produce thicker, stronger strands. It’s this stimulation that encourages hair regrowth, making it a powerful tool for revitalizing thinning areas and creating more volume.
In addition to encouraging new hair growth, minoxidil also slows the shedding process, giving you the chance to preserve your existing hair while nurturing new, healthy growth. For those experiencing early signs of hair thinning or visible patchiness, consistent use can lead to noticeable improvements, filling in gaps and boosting overall hair density.
While it’s not a one-time fix, minoxidil is a powerful, long-term solution that works to keep your hair looking its best.
Whether you’re just starting to notice thinning or have been managing hair loss for a while, topical minoxidil offers a simple, non-invasive way to make a real difference. By integrating minoxidil into your routine, you’re not just treating hair loss—you’re actively reclaiming your confidence and taking a significant step toward the hair you’ve always wanted.
And remember, minoxidil works even better when combined with other treatments like low-level laser therapy (LLLT) or platelet-rich plasma (PRP), offering you a truly comprehensive approach to hair restoration.
