The medical word for excessive sweating, or too much water, is “hyperhidrosis.”
The anatomical word for armpit is “axillary.”
So “axillary hyperhidrosis” literally means a condition of too much water in the armpits.
People often ask, “is not being able to sweat from my armpits healthy?”
Since the skin in our armpits accounts for approximately 1-2% of our body’s surface area, not sweating from that 1-2% of our skin is completely without risk or danger.
When our body needs to cool down, the other 98-99% of our skin will sweat normally. Body temperature can still be regulated appropriately when the armpits don’t sweat.
Our treatment for excessive armpit sweating (axillary hyperhidrosis) is safe, effective, and requires no down-time.
Morpheus8 uses microneedling and radiofrequency energy to stop excess armpit sweating safely and effectively.
Morpheus8 is typically used for skin rejuvenation. It tightens skin, improves fine lines and wrinkles, diminishes blemishes, and reduces the appearance of scars and stretch marks.
In the armpits, Morpheus8 targets the two glands that make sweat.
Eccrine glands produce water and apocrine glands produce odor.
Morpheus8 damages and disables both types of glands.
After treatment, the armpits produce less water and odor.
In other words, “Goodbye sweat stains and goodbye stink!!”

This is the most common question we hear… “When will my armpits stop sweating?”
The time to start seeing results is one of the wonderful benefits of this treatment.
Armpit sweating decreases immediately after your first treatment.
The full benefit of 80-100% sweat reduction will occur after your final treatment.
Treatments are 1 month apart, and 3 to 4 treatments are required. So, 4 months after your first treatment you will be sweat free!
If you don’t want to wait 3-4 months to be sweat free, then plan to receive Botox injections in your armpits at your first Morpheus8 appointment.
Armpit sweating will stop completely within 2 weeks after Botox injections.
Botox prevents armpit sweating for about 4-6 months.
So, adding Botox to the first Morpheus8 treatment means your sweating days will be over 2 weeks after your first treatment!
Botox injections are a stand-alone hyperhidrosis treatment for patients that don’t mind having injections 2-3 times each year.
Morpheus8 treatment for armpit sweating is more of a permanent solution for this sweating problem.
One of the most appealing benefits of Morpheus8 for the treatment of Hyperhidrosis is that results are long lasting.
How long lasting you may ask?
Scientific studies have shown that after three to four treatments with Morpheus8, more than half of those treated are still sweat free at one year.
Everyone’s armpits are unique and different. So, the duration of the results is variable as well.
For many patients, the treatment is permanent.
However, some of our clients require one touch up treatment every year or two to keep their armpits dry. There are also a few patients that need to be treated once every few months to maintain sweat free status.
You will shave your armpits 2 days before your Morpheus8 treatment.
When you arrive at Shea, numbing cream will be applied to your armpits for 30-45 minutes.
Additionally, lidocaine will be injected into the area for maximal comfort.
The procedure will take about 30 minutes per armpit.
Every square inch of the armpit skin is treated.
The Morpheus8 tip is a small hand-held square piece that has 24 microneedles that penetrate about 2 to 3 mm into the skin (about 1/16th of an inch).
While the microneedles are in the skin, radiofrequency energy is applied to them.
This energy goes into the skin and damages the eccrine and apocrine sweat glands (the glands that are responsible for producing water and odor).
Biopsies of armpit skin after the procedure show decreased number and size of both glands.
Your armpits may be a bit sore and tender with mild pain, swelling, and redness for 2-3 days after the procedure.
You’ll avoid using deodorant for 2 days after the Morpheus8 treatment. Keep some baby wipes with you during that time to use as needed.
You’ll put aloe vera gel on the treated areas for about a week to help the skin heal.
If you’re sick of sweaty armpits, and you want that problem to stop, then Morpheus8 is a great solution.
