The ellacor procedure should not be performed on patients that are pregnant, nursing, or those with a history of keloids, bleeding disorders, allergies to anesthesia, or autoimmune conditions that may affect the treatment outcome.
It should not be used in patients that have skin cancer, open wounds/sores, or facial implants in the treatment area.
Patients should not take high doses of anticoagulants or NSAIDS for 14 days pre-treatment, or have had cosmetic injections/fillers in the treatment area during the previous six months.
On the day of your procedure, you’ll receive local anesthetic injected into the area to be treated. Once your skin is numb, Dr. Bass will use the ellacor device to remove tiny cores of skin in an organized grid pattern. The excess skin will be removed through hollow needles. The micro-cores are so small that they will begin to heal quickly. 5-8% of your skin can be removed during one ellacor treatment.
The typical downtime after ellacor is about 7-10 days. During this time you’ll have redness, swelling, bruising, and mild tenderness. There will also be visible marks on the skin where the cores were removed. Those with more aggressive skin removal may have longer downtimes. Downtime implies that you will not be able to work during this time.
You’ll see skin tightening results and improved skin texture within 1-2 months after treatment with ellacor. It takes time for your body’s natural healing process to bring in new cells and lay down new collagen and elastin. This process occurs over the 3-6 months after treatment. So, your best results will occur several months after your last treatment.
